THE HISTORY OF CHALK LANE

The Chalk Lane Residences sits on a site bathed in rich local history. at the foot of Epsom Downs which have been largely unchanged for two centuries. Lying within the Chalk Lane Conservation Area of Old Epsom, the development comprises of two conjoined historic buildings- 'Woodcote Cottage' and 'Heathcote House'. The oldest parts of the building are Grade II listed and date back to the early 18th Century.

The building became the Chalk Lane Hotel just after the end of World War II around 1946, and closed in 2018 when its owners decided to retire after running it for 21 years.
